World Economic Forum Spring Internship provides you a unique opportunity to learn the foremost global industry and challenges, experience a dynamic collaborative culture. You don’t learn by watching, you will learn by working side-by-side with experts and getting involved in real work. We hope to support you to shape a better self, by providing real learnings from experience and exposure. You will potentially have a chance to attend the Annual Meeting of the New Champions, and we will also design a networking session for you with Global Shapers!



Who can apply?


The Spring Internship role is for candidates currently pursuing a college or university degree (undergraduate or postgraduate). We are looking for candidates with an outstanding record of academic achievement, having a can-do spirit and desire to bring an impact.

Interview with Us

We will consider extracurricular activities, academic standing and internship experience when selecting candidates to interview. If selected, you will be asked to participate in a virtual interview, after which in-person simulation interview and talk with our team leads for next steps.

 

Roles and responsibilities


Business Engagement intern

China Business Engagement Group develops and maintains business members and partners headquartered in Greater China and ensures their successful engagement in Forum initiatives, projects and events across industry.

 

Your Responsibilities

Overall support to China Business Engagement team with portfolio coverage of: banking, insurance, asset management, investment sector; and mobility, infrastructure sector; and ICT, healthcare, consumers sector.

·        Data research and entry

·        Industry/ company information research, collection and analysis

·        Support in the business development activities, such as leads generation, client meeting, contract negotiation, CRM system maintenance, client success management, etc.

·        Participate and contribute to the effective client senior executive meetings as appropriate

·        BD related material preparation and translation

·        Liaison with the Forum’s member/ partner companies on various subjects

·        WEF flagship conferences operational and logistics support

 

Qualifications and Requirements

·        Full time undergraduate/ graduate student

·        Major in International Studies/ Business Administration

·        Native Mandarin speaker and proficiency in English, written and spoken

·        Ability to absorb information quickly and multitask

·        Committed and proactive team player

·        Hardworking and dedicated outlook

·        Overseas experience or experience in MNC/ international organization is a plus

 

 


Media intern

The Media team conveys the Forum’s mission and messages, and engages the global community in its work. The team is also to ensure the public awareness of the Forum’s mission by enhancing its brand and engagement with the global public.

 

Scope of Responsibilities

The role offers an opportunity to build contact with the world’s top media organizations, such as BBC, CNN, Bloomberg, Reuters and CCTV, as well as to keep yourself updated on the latest developments of the international community; you will also accumulate media experience through this top-level global event by learning how the Media team interacts smoothly with the media.

·        Handle the registration of media representatives from around the world

·        Support preparations for pre-event media conferences

·        Support foreign media representatives in obtaining visas and other licenses during the meeting

·        Support preparatory visits by the media during AMNC

 

Qualifications and Skills

·        Senior undergraduate or postgraduate student majoring in communications, public relations or journalism

·        Native Mandarin speaker and proficiency in English, written and spoken

·        Great resilience under pressure

·        Detail-attentive with a strong sense of responsibility

·        Available for a minimum of four working days per week

 

 

 

Strategic Parterership intern

 

The Strategic Partnership intern will support the team in the formulation and execution of engagement strategies for Strategic Partner (SP) companies.

 

Scope of Responsibilities

Overall support to Asian Strategic Partnership team with portfolio coverage of: banking, insurance, asset management, investment; mobility, infrastructure; ICT, healthcare, consumers sector, etc.

·        Data research and entry

·        Industry/ company information research, collection and analysis

·        Support in the engagement development activities, such as connecting Forum value proposition to Partner’s need, CRM system maintenance, client success management, etc.

·        Collaborate with Forum teams across offices

·        Liaison with the Forum’s partner companies on various subjects

·        WEF flagship conferences operational and logistics support

 

Qualifications and Skills

·        Full time undergraduate/ graduate student

·        Native Mandarin speaker and proficiency in English, written and spoken

·        Available for a minimum of four working days per week

China Central Support intern

The China Central Support team is dedicated in providing the Forum’s members with the highest quality promotional materials and the most complete communication resources. The team is responsible for compiling promotional materials, developing communication plans for annual meeting and regional meetings, providing content support for communication with the members, mailing letters, and delivering training and support on the use of Salesforce platform.

 

Scope of Responsibilities

·        Support foreign companies and media organizations by liaising with embassies and consulates to help them address visa-related issues

·        Support the head of the Marketing team in translating and proofreading all materials related to the AMNC19

·        Understand foreign participants’ needs and provide effective services

·        Work closely with the registration team in Geneva and provide timely and accurate participant data to enhance participant experience

·        Support internal and external Forum platform users on using Forum digital products

 

Qualifications and Skills

·        Available for a minimum of four working days per week

·        Students majoring in translation or interpreting are preferable

·        Interested in digital platforms and technical solutions of business operations

·        Detail-attentive with a strong sense of responsibility

·        Good communication skills

 

 

Government Engagement intern 

The Regional and Government Engagement (RGE) team manages the Forum’s overall engagement with Chinese government and public sector institutions. RGE will facilitate the integration of Chinese government constituents into Forum meetings, initiatives and other relevant activities. They will represent the Forum for government constituents and help execute the strategy for deepening the Forum’s value proposition with these constituents.

 

Scope of Responsibilities

Support local and central government representatives in communication, coordination, visa application and other meeting-related affairs.

 

Qualifications and Skills

·        Available for a minimum of four working days per week

·        Major in public policy, international relations, interpreting or translation

·        Native Mandarin speaker and proficiency in English, written and spoken

·        Proactive and detail-attentive with solid communication skills

 

 

Foundations intern 

Foundations team covers works for three Foundations initiated by the World Economic Forum, including Global Shapers, Young Global Leaders and Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurs.

 

Your Responsibilities

Overall support to Foundations team’s work leading towards,

·        Data and information research, collection and analysis

·        Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2019 and Young Global Leaders Annual Summit 2019 support

·        Participate and contribute to the effective client senior executive meetings as appropriate

·        Related material preparation and translation

·        Liaison with the Foundation’s members on various subjects

 

Qualifications and Requirements

·        Full time undergraduate/ graduate student

·        Native Mandarin speaker and proficiency in English, written and spoken 

·        Ability to absorb information quickly and multitask

·        Committed and proactive team player

·        Strong curiosity and open minded

 

 

Programme Development intern

The Forum’s Programme Development team develops and organizes high-level, multistakeholder meetings, such as the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, which convenes global leaders to address the most relevant and pressing challenges.

 

Your Responsibilities

Assisting Programme Lead, China and Asia Pacific in the design, development and delivery of the Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2019 and carry out background research on a range of current issues and experts.

·        Programme Development:  assist in co-curating public sessions (e.g. Ideas Lab, Transformation Hub sessions) with Chinese/ Asian experts and universities

·        Research and Analysis: carry out extensive research and analysis of Chinese (and Asian) faculty database in different realms to support the new term of GFC nomination; support the organization of existing faculty database for China/Asia

·        Expert Engagement: follow on pending invitations to and develop personal agenda for well-renowned experts from China

 

Qualifications and Requirements

·        Full time undergraduate/ graduate student

·        Major in International Studies/ Business Administration

·        Native Mandarin speaker and proficiency in English, written and spoken

·        Ability to absorb information quickly and multitask

 Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution intern

In 2017, the Forum established the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution - The Network for Global Technology Governance to partner with governments, leading companies, civil society, and experts from around the world to co-design and pilot innovative approaches to policy and governance for emerging technologies. As the Network continues to grow, we are looking for an intern to support the Forum’s Beijing Representative Office in operationalizing this strategic dimension of our work.

 

Your Responsibilities

1.     Conduct research according to project portfolio needs

2.     Conduct gap analysis and draft project specific short papers under supervision

3.     Support event management, including but not limited to:

·        Invite event participants and follow up with responses

·        Create and maintain tracker of activities 

·        Timely communicate and coordinate with internal and external teams

·        Support maintaining digital platforms such as Salesforce and Toplink

·        Assist with travel arrangements 

 

 

Qualifications and Requirements

·        Full time undergraduate/ graduate student

·        Major in Science or Engineering, or Social Sciences and Humanities with a strong interest in the intersection of technology and policy

·        Passionate about the impact of science and innovation on societies and  economy

·        Proficiency in Chinese and English, written and spoken

·        Proactive and detail-attentive with solid communication skills

·        Ability to absorb information quickly and multitask

·        Good internet searching skill

·        Committed, responsible and proactive team player

·        Overseas experience or experience in an international organization or a company is a plus



Centre for the Global Public Goods intern

The World Economic Forum Centre for Global Public Goods brings innovation and frontier approaches to the agenda of international institutions, in particular, their processes and agreements related to implementing the 2015 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement on climate change. The Centre aims to improve management of the global commons and build sustainable markets to meet the 2030 SDGs. We are looking for an intern to support the Forum’s Beijing Representative Office in conducting desktop research and drafting working papers.

 

Your Responsibilities

      Research on broader public goods/ sustainable development engagement in 2019, data collection and analysis (circular economy, TFA, green investment, biodiversity)

        Support AMNC19 on topic Biodiversity and nature, Metals and materials, Green finance, climate and BRI; and on CGPG community building

       Update public goods community database, managing participant profile for events, translating Forum content

        Assist in interviews with subject matter-experts

        Assist in the Forum’s flagship conferences operational and logistics support

 

Qualifications and Requirements

·        Full time graduate/ PhD student in sustainability, environmental economics, public policy or other related fields

        Interest in Sustainable Development, Communications, Emerging Green Technology

         Available for a minimum of four working days per week

          Fluent in written and spoken English and Mandarin

          Overseas experience or experience in international organization is a plus
